Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly accurate and experienced Legal Bookkeeper with 3+ years experience to handle critical accounting tasks related to client settlements. This individual will also support general administrative and operational duties as needed. The right candidate will be dependable, highly organized, and skilled at managing complex financial data with confidentiality and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and issue checks for client settlements, including disbursements and medical payments.
- Maintain and reconcile client trust and escrow accounts in strict compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Handle accounts payable processes and ensure timely, accurate payments.
- Accurately record and categorize all financial transactions related to client settlements.
- Assist with general bookkeeping tasks, reporting, and audit preparation.
- Support the office with additional duties such as filing, document handling, or other administrative needs.
- Collaborate with attorneys and team members to ensure smooth financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field or 5+ years of experience.
- Direct experience with payables, escrow, or trust accounts is required.
- Strong mathematical skills and a commitment to accuracy.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of financial and client information.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Deep understanding of trust accounting practices and compliance regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, high integrity, and the ability to prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to pitch in where needed.
Work Environment:

This is an in-office position. Remote work is not available for this role.

- Located in 4580 E Grant Rd, in Tucson with free parking.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $22/hr - $26.00/hr (depending on experience and qualifications)

Doug Zanes founded Zanes Law in 2003. Our firm’s first office was located in Tucson, Arizona, with Doug as the only attorney. His wife Claudia, who is a business executive, helped run the business operations within the law firm. During this time, we were able to count our entire staff on one hand.
By 2008, we had added two lawyers and employed a team of 15 staff members. It was at this time that we began to focus our practice on personal injury cases. We realized that helping accident victims was far more personally fulfilling than the area of law we had been practicing.
By 2017, the firm grew to include 10 lawyers spread across three law offices. There were two offices in Tucson, Arizona, and a third office in Phoenix, Arizona. We also serve Glendale, Casa Grande, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe and the entire Phoenix Metro area.
